Bowling team wraps up season at regionals

The bowling team went on an incredible run this season. They had an unbelievable year, going 16-2, losing only to Grandville and Northview.
“During the season we practice two to three times a week,” says Junior Kaiden Veldman. “Then, during the offseason like once a month. I think [our practices] contribute to our success because we find out what we need to do moving forward.”
The team is also incredibly close to each other and consider their teammates to be very good friends. “This team was on such a hot streak because everyone on the team has a very good friendship, and we’ve all been dedicated to bowing even during the offseason,” Veldman says.
This friendship is a main contributor to their success because with a morale boost, bowlers feel more comfortable and when they are more comfortable, they are more likely to bowl a higher score.
Consistency is also something that the team views as vital to their success. “I believe that the team has been on a streak because of our determination to win,” says junior Thao Le. Consistency has been the story all season, with that incredibly impressive record.
Bowling is something that takes a lot of practice to do at a high level, and these bowlers all put in an impressive amount of hours dedicated towards their craft. “We practice a lot, even on the days we don’t have practice because we are so dedicated to our craft,” Thao Le states.
If you were wondering what a bowling game experience is like, according to Veldman, it is pretty intense. “I would describe a game as nerve racking but also testing because you have real competition that you need to beat as a team and as yourself.”
At regionals, the bowling team sadly did not make it to states, but that does not take away from their success. Veldman placed 13th at regionals, almost making states.
So, how can students support the bowling team? “People can support the team by simply giving us compliments on our success,” Le states.
