The March Madness tournament is coming closer to having a winner, with only four teams left in the tournament. The 4 teams that have prevailed are: Uconn (University of Connecticut), Illinois, Arizona, and Michigan.
Uconn: Uconn defeated Duke in a barn burner of a game, beating them 73-72 off of a game winner from guard Braylon Mullin. Duke were favorites going into the game, but the game was always pretty even and never had a clear favorite. This followed a close game that Uconn had with MSU on the 27th, in which they defeated MSU 63-67. Uconn look very strong defensively, allowing a max of 72 in one game this tournament, and it will be tough for any team to beat them if they can keep up this type of defensive prowess.
Illinois: Illinois blew out Iowa to punch their ticket to the final 4 defeating them 71-59. Illinois have allowed an average of 59.75 points this tournament, making them one of the strongest defensive teams standing, it will be interesting to see if how Illinois vs.U Conn turns out, with them both having incredible defenses, if I had to pick one of these teams, I would probably give the edge to Illinois but just barely, mainly because I believe they have both a slightly better defense and offense.
AZ: Arizona made their way into the final 4 this weekend with a victory over Purdue, beating the boilermakers 79-64. The game was not as close as most people expected it to be with how good Purdue were looking, but Arizona proved superior. Arizona are elite scorers, constantly producing quality shots through their spacing and transition offense. On top of being amazing offensively, Arizona throughout the season have the 2nd most total rebounds in the country, with only Florida having more. Their matchup in the final 4 is Michigan who is also an incredibly strong team both offensively and defensively. I believe that the team that wins that matchup will be the national champions.
Michigan: Michigan is the first ever team to win by double digits in the first 4 games of the tournament scoring 90 plus points every game. Michigan thrashed Tennessee with a score of 92-65, beating them with a combination of consistent offensive prowess and defensive domination. Tennessee put up 76 shots, and out of those 76 shots, only 24 went in, Michigan constantly forced Tennessee to shoot low percentage shots, and it is a main reason why they won. In every game that Michigan has played it has seemed like no team has had a chance of beating them, it will be interesting to see if Arizona can take the challenge head on and defeat them, but I believe Michigan will win the entire tournament.
