With the seniors being gone, it's time for underclassmen to step into their roles as new leaders in various extracurricular activities.
Various clubs throughout our school work together to create the Wyoming community we all know and love. Student Council, Key Club, NHS, BPA, Senior Committee, and more make students feel welcome in new surroundings and create new friends while helping the community. The executive boards of each club help to run the behind the scenes of activities, ensuring that events are made by students, for students.
The roster of each board changes from year to year with various rounds of interviewing and polling to determine who is best suited for the position. For the aforementioned clubs, the board members are:
Student Council: President – Sofia Barajas-Gutierrez, Vice President – Uriel Diaz, Secretary – Lily McKenney, Treasurer – Brady Clayton, Spirit Chair – Brooklynn Issa, Social Media Manager – Sarema Rapalo Romero, Historian – Miah Mendez-Ortega.
NHS: President – Lily McKenney, Vice President – Ashley Morales Vega, Recording Officer – Kaliyah Tolbert, Secretary – Brooklynn Issa.
Key Club: President – Mayreli Cortez-Parada, Vice President – Angie Torres, Secretary – Sarema Rapalo-Romero, Treasurer – Sofia Barajas-Gutierrez, Bulletin Editor – Annalyse Franks, Webmaster – Angeline Verduga-Reyes.
Senior Committee: President – Brandon Choe, Vice President – Teagyn Ager, Secretary – Kimberly Mendez, Social Media Manager – Yaretzi Martinez-Maldonado.
BPA: President – Miah Mendez-Ortega, the rest is yet to be released.
Student members of the club seem to be pretty content with the 2026-2027 executive board lineup. “I think that all of the board members chosen are going to do very well with their jobs next year,” Junior Lyric McPhee, member of StuCo, NHS, Key Club, and Senior Committee, said. “Next year is going to be a good year for clubs.
For those who may be unaware, there's a rule for executive board officers that if they are the president or vice president of one club, they cannot be a president or vice president of another club. This rule was made to widen the variety of students in leadership positions, giving more opportunities for students that want to step up. Although some students are officers in more than one club, the variety is wide regardless, and students from all grades levels have really stepped up to make our school a better place.
“I’m glad that I am able to be on both the Student Council and NHS boards,” upcoming Senior Brooklynn Issa stated. “The experience will really help me with my future endeavors for sure.”
Overall, the student body believes that our 2026-2027 officers are going to do just fine and follow in the steps of their predecessors. Next year is going to be awesome with the help of our student leaders.
