Is Drake making a comeback?
Although Drake has had lots of good albums full of different mixes, this one seems different. In my perspective, most of these songs talk about the same type of things, and have a similar beat. There are always more “popular” songs that are trending, and those are the ones that are catchy beats, the lyrics make sense, and people just seem to love more overall.
Though Drake is not everyones cup of tea, he mixes different types of singers with himself. From 21 Savage to Sexxy Red and Sza, he choses loads of different artists to create popular songs with.
Drake does a lot of collabs with other artists in this album, and the songs that are just himself aren’t the greatest. In my opinion, his voice is quite monotone when he’s by himself, but when he mixes it up and does a song with someone else, it picks up the beat and gives the song more flavor.
Drake has had many other albums, but none of them always stay popular and well-known. A lot of people refer to his better music as “Old Drake” because his older albums were more popular. Although, within the past couple years, he has released a couple albums. “Dark Lane Demo Tapes” in 2020, with the popular song, “Chicago Freestyle” featuring Giveon. Then in 2021, “Certified Lover Boy” album came out, with a couple popular songs. This album from him was trending for a while, and reached 613k sales in the first week, which was the highest since Tayler Swift’s Folklore album in 2020, which had 846k. Then in 2022, he released “Her Loss” with 21 Savage. The song, “Rich Flex” got 93.9 million streams in the month it came out. So overall, with this album coming out, Drake now has as many No. 1 tracks on the Billboard Hot 100 as Michael Jackson did.
I would definitely recommend listening to Drake’s new album, For all the Dogs, preferably blasting it in a car. These songs are great to listen to by yourself, or with friends. Some more hype than others, but still good. Hopefully Drake will continue to make new music, and take feedback from his fans on what he can change if he wants more streams and sales.
This review gets 8/10 stars because I like most of the songs, but some don’t catch my ears and make me want to keep listening to them.
