Over the past two decades, many artists have managed to captivate people’s hearts and make them fall in love with their music and character. A man like no other music artist, Kanye West was born in Atlanta and grew up in Chicago, he started as a producer having dreams of rapping big for a record label, “Roc-A-Fella”. Over the years he’s made countless unreleased masterpieces, most notably Yhandhi, an album that was scrapped in favor of Jesus Is King, you can listen to Yhandhi and all other unreleased Ye songs on Spotify and other music apps. There are many notable unreleased songs that he’s made that would forever a mark on the rap world.
Up at number 5 is “City in the Sky”, a song created by Kanye West featuring Desiigner, Kid Cudi, Jeremih, and Ty Dolla $ign, which is a song written for his unreleased album called, “Yhandhi”. The song’s central theme is asking God for direction and taking advantage of one’s opportunities. Out of the 5 songs chosen for this list, this one is pretty good but not quite as good as the other options like Mama’s boyfriend and never see me again. As a collective, the Yandhi album is great but sadly scrapped in favor of “Jesus Is King”.
Up at number 4 is “Last Name / Slave Name”, a song created by Kanye West featuring Ant Clemons, this song is also from his unreleased album, Yandhi. The central theme of this song is Kanye wanting to disassociate from his “slave name” West, which was possibly given to him by slave owners generations ago, while working on Yandhi, he visited Uganda to complete the album, but while he was there he could’ve been searching for a new surname. This is one of the many well-made songs from his Yandhi album that Kanye sadly did not officially release.
On number 3 on the list, it’s “God Level.” It appeared in a 2014 Adidas commercial. It does not appear anywhere else but that commercial. This song is still really good as most of Kanye’s unreleased songs are amazing and beautifully crafted.
Our number 2 on this list is “Never See Me Again”, this song was made during the period between his VMAs incident and the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. It was at a point in Kanye’s life when people were calling him an idiot and hating on him, even the then-current president of the United States, Barack Obama, called him a “jackass”. The song’s theme is believed to be of suicidal nature, mainly believed to be associated with Kanye’s mindset at the time. This song is well known to be one of his best-unreleased songs to date.
For our first place, it’s “Mama’s Boyfriend”. A song quoted by West himself as a song that took him “33 years of his life” to write. The song is about his love for his mom while expressing his hatred for his mom’s boyfriend, who took advantage of his mother’s devotion and raised him in poverty, this song is a rare moment of Kanye expressing his insecurities and fears. This song was first heard during a performance by West himself at Facebook Headquarters in 2010. This song is one of his most unforgettable.
