Yaniris Delgado Cruz
The author of the article “How WHS Celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month”, Yaniris Delgado Cruz, is a creative, energetic, and outgoing person among the many members of the Wyoming High School Journalism class.
But first, who is Yaniris? She’s part of the freshman class and enjoys history and biology. This is Yaniris’s first time in this school district as well as just high school in general, but it doesn’t bother her too much. “I love the teachers, I love my friends, and most importantly I love the school lunch,” she announces, “My favorite school lunch is the spicy chicken sandwich with those waffle fries”.
Journalism is also one of Yaniris’s favorite classes. She enjoys interviewing people and getting to leave the classroom instead of being stuck in one place all hour. “We get to go out and we get to see like different things and meet different people with different perspectives,” she comments.
She’s also a big fan of the teacher, Mr.Cornell. “ He’s funny and he makes class really just easy for me,” Yaniris explains.
Yaniris also enjoys spending time with her husky poodle, Toby, or, as they sometimes call him, their “polar bear” around her household. He gets his name from his fluffy white coat and blue eyes. Toby is also very loud and full of energy. “He is just like his mom, which is me,” Yaniris jokes.
Playing with the polar bear is like an obstacle course because she has to run under or around all the furniture! “He acts like a chihuahua, he’s very loud and energetic, we’re twins,” Yaniris explains.
