Hadara Callazo-Garcia, Contributing Writer
It is difficult to sum myself up in a single profile. I don’t have a single hobby that defines me; I’m just always curious and always looking for something new to learn. This past October, I decided to give baking a shot. It wasn’t something that came naturally to me at first; my first batch of cookies literally melted onto the pan. However, with time and practice, I started to get the hang of it. Before long, something that started as a small experiment turned into something I found myself doing almost every day. The best part wasn’t necessarily mastering a recipe; it was sharing it with others. I loved bringing something in that I had made the night before and having my peers truly enjoy it.
When I’m not busy with anything, you will find me with my friends. We have a giant calendar to help us coordinate with each other. Even if we are both free only once a month, we make sure to schedule that time for each other. Our monthly outings can range from dining at a new restaurant to “accidentally” running into our ex-boyfriends.
I find that each time I’m asked to write about myself, I find myself talking about my friends. That’s because, in a way, they are a part of me. Each of my friends has played a part in making me who I am today, and I truly believe that without my friends, I wouldn’t be who I am today. The impact of my friends on my life cannot even be measured.
I used to dislike writing, okay, I actually hated it. But I realize that it is essential that you are able to express yourself in a way that is clear and understandable using words. This is one of my main reasons for choosing this as my third English class this semester. Although I don’t enjoy writing that much, I have decided to challenge myself and become better and more confident in this area.
