Disney Movies
A lot of us grew up when Disney Movies were at their peak, and many of us spent time watching movies when we were young. In the past years, live action Disney movies have been coming out. Many old-Disney fans dislike the newer movies. Children who were born between 2020 and now are going to grow up watching the new version of movies we watched. What does Wyoming High School think?
Disney movies have changed a lot recently, including changes in the story lines, remaking older movies, and so much more. Mrs. Johnston, an english teacher here at WHS, didn't grew up watching a lot of Disney movies. The Little Mermaid came out when she was about eleven or twelve, and she loved that movie, but she also loved Fantasia.
“I like being able to see how (the music) is put into color and motion,” Mrs. Johnson stated. “That's how I experience it and it's nice how other people can see what I see when I listen to music.”
Although Mrs. Johnston did like those two movies, she doesn't like a lot of Disney movies.
“I remember watching Alice in Wonderland and being like 'oh my God what the hell is happening?’” Mrs. Johnston confessed. “It was scary. Some of the Disney movies were just frightening.”
Which is understandable, watching movies about being put to sleep for a long time, eating a bad apple, getting lost in the woods, or being trapped in a tower for eighteen years, when you think about it, is actually pretty terrifying.
While Disney movies can be very terrifying, they can also be funny, uplifting and good movies to watch with kids. Many of the Disney movies have a lot of action scenes, and humor. Movies like Monsters Inc. Mrs. Doubtfire, Toy story, Ice Age, and so many more, are funny and can lift our spirits.
“I would rather have my kids watch the older Disney movies than the newer ones because that is what I grew up with,” Lelani Garcia-Alicea explains. “I liked the live action remake, but nothing can beat the original.” Newer live action movies are not all bad. Some people enjoy them and think they are wonderful, others don’t and dislike them a lot.
Many people have explained how Older Disney Movies are better than the newer and remakes. Although the remakers are not all bad, older Disney movies overall are more preferred. Everyone has their own opinions about movies they grew up watching. What's next though? A live action Mickey Mouse movie? What would you prefer your kids watch, the older or newer Disney movies?
