After WrestleMania 41 Night 1, WWE held WrestleMania Night 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 20th. The second part of their two night event.
I really enjoyed this show. I was very entertained and engaged throughout the entire event. There were many matches on the card, like Night 1. The top three matches of the event are Iyo Sky defending her WWE Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair in a triple threat match, Bron Breakker defending his Intercontinental Championship against Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, and Penta in a fatal four way match, and the main event of WrestleMania 41 Night 2, Cody Rhodes defending his WWE Undisputed Championship against John Cena.
One of the reasons this was a great show is the high quality matches.
Iyo Sky Vs. Rhea Ripley Vs. Bianca Belair was a fantastic match, and it opened the event. These three women are great in the ring. Iyo Sky is one of my favorites, and it showed how great she was in this match. In the story leading up to this, Rhea and Bianca were treating Iyo as an afterthought, which was clear in the match as well, as they didn’t pay attention to her at times, which probably cost them the win. Drew McIntyre Vs. Damian Priest in a Sin City Street Fight was also great. These two are hard hitters, and their rivalry started at last year’s WrestleMania, when Drew won the World Heavyweight Championship, then Damian cashed in to take it from him in minutes. Now, these two are fighting each other because they hate each other. During this match, Drew even took a picture and made a tweet that he’s still bored at work, a call back to WrestleMania 40 when he tweeted during his match against Seth Rollins. Damian has managed in the past to defeat Drew multiple times, but Drew got the upperhand in this match. Another fantastic match was Bron Breakker Vs. Finn Balor Vs. Dominik Mysterio Vs. Penta. These four are amazing talents in the ring, and it showed in that match. They all had their moments to shine in the ring. Bron Breakker may be young, but he is already so good at what he does. The way he does his finisher, the Spear, is so brutal. Dominik Mysterio, the son of Rey Mysterio, is another great young wrestler, he has shown so much growth since his debut in 2020. This is Dominik’s first WrestleMania match without Rey Mysterio in it, and he’s lost all other WrestleMania’s he’s been in. Finn Balor is a veteran wrestler, but he has not lost a step. The gear he wore may have made it look like he was a banana, but that’s besides the point. Penta had only debuted in WWE at the start of the year, but he has been wrestling for years before WWE, and he is super talented in the ring. He has a bright future in the WWE. Dominik and Finn had an advantage in this match, as they’re a part of a faction, the Judgement Day. The surprise of this match was Dominik winning the championship by pinning his teammate in the Judgement Day, Finn Balor. The main event, Cody Rhodes Vs. John Cena was a decent match. It could’ve been better, as these two have done better matches than that match, but I still think it was pretty decent. This match did have some close moments, including Cody Rhodes kicking out of four Attitude Adjustments, which is John Cena’s finisher. Though, this match was rather disappointing than the other matches on the card. Cody has held the WWE Undisputed Championship for over a year, before this match and he put on a fantastic reign as champion. Cody is truly one of the best wrestlers in the WWE, and I hope one day he gets a second reign as world champion, since he is that good. In the end, this match could’ve gone either way, but John Cena won his 17th world championship, breaking the record of title reigns.
Another great part about the show were the entrances and surprises.
Drew McIntyre had a cool entrance. He wore gear that was inspired by Doomslayer, with an entrance involving aspects from Doom: The Dark Age which releases in May. Damian Priest also had a cool entrance, involving Kerry King from the band, Slayer, performing his entrance. Damian Priest has always had a good theme song, but being played live was cool to hear. Randy Orton was having a surprise opponent for WrestleMania, challenging anyone. The reasoning for this was that Kevin Owens was going to be his opponent, but Owens is injured. Joe Hendry, the TNA World Champion answered, which was really shocking. It was the last person expected. People expected Rusev, who was rumored to be returning to WWE to answer the challenge. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez had to defend their Women’s Tag Team Championships against Lyra Valkyria and a mystery partner, after Bayley got attacked. Lyra’s partner was Becky Lynch. It shocked many fans that she came back, even though she said she wasn’t going to be at WrestleMania this year. John Cena’s entrance was very different from his usual. He was just slowly walking to the ring, as he had turned heel (become a bad guy) at Elimination Chamber. Cody’s entrance was special, however. He had this skull mask, different from the one he wore from last year. It opened up like an Iron Man mask which was really cool.
Overall, I’d rate this show a 4 out of 5 stars. This event was great, but not perfect, as the main event could be better. This event is still worth a watch.
