Why wait to join college after school when you can join while in high school.
When I first heard of middle college, I knew I wanted to join. I always wanted to go to college after high school. Hearing that you can join earlier and have college credits by the time you graduate is amazing to hear. Certain schools would be able to accept your college credits transferred over to them. I thought it was a good opportunity, but I didn’t know what it was about. I have some friends in middle college that are close to graduating. I decided to interview them to inform people who are getting into Middle College of what its about
Wyoming High School offers the program Middle College. Middle College is a program that is started from your sophomore year to an extra year after senior year. Middle college is basically what it sounds like, it gives high schoolers the chance at getting college credits while in high school. You are encouraged to sign up your freshman year and start your sophomore year. There are 50 available spots and can help you for when you want to get into an actual college.
Middle college is a free and many people have graduated from since it started. I’ve talked too and know some people that are close to graduating from Middle College. It can help get you started on your career path “ It made the transition from high school to college be less stressful and not worry so much, “ said Ariana Parada-Sosa.
Current Middle College students encourage others to join the program. “I would advise a freshman to join so they can earn some credits and go through college courses,” said Maigan Bell. This credit can help you to get into an actual college. The classes consist of the basics of English math but they also have others. “They throw new things at you your senior year. It is a different thing every year. Wewe did criminal justice and others.” said Maigan Bell.
In Middle College you have different teachers from high school. “Some of them would help me because most just like to stand up and lecture, it’s hard to learn when they are just talking. One of my math teachers actually went around one time and helped every individual student which was really helpful.” said Maigan Bell.
Not all professors are the same though some do not accept late work and can be a bit more strict. They all mean good intentions and just want to help get you through your middle college years. “I think they do help us, mostly because they know we’re still high schoolers so they try to make it easier on us and they can help you through it, it just depends on every class.” said Ariana Parada-Sosa.
