Like Green Day or Weezer, many good musical artists emerged from the rock age in the 1990s and late 2000s. However, OK Go is a band in particular that does not get enough recognition.
They started as a small group performing until singer/guitarist Damian Kulash, guitarist Andrew Duncan, bassist Tim Nordwind, and drummer Dan Konopka formed OK Go while in Chicago. Since 2002, they have been performing and making music, with their latest songs coming out on April 11th, 2025.
Their new album And the Adjacent Possible, has some new sounds but keeps the same vibes from their older releases. They have always included unique methods in their music, so the new stuff is no exception. But because it is different, I will have to say that I prefer their older albums. However, there is a wide range of themes, from fast-paced to slow, which they have done in the past as well. Fans new and old will enjoy this new release and say OK Go did it justice.
One fun fact about the group OK Go is that they contributed to the Twilight franchise in New Moon. Their song “Shooting The Moon” appeared in the 2009 movie’s soundtrack and later played on the track in 2010's The Blue Colour Of The Sky. It is a sort of melancholy song that is good to listen to even without knowing the movie. So that is fun for you Twilight fans out there.
I could not choose a single album as my favorite because they have many great hits, but if I had to pick one, I’d pick their 2002 release OK Go. Each song resonated with me, and one of their most popular songs is from that album called “Get Over It”, which is sometimes played at sports games because of the aggressive lyrics. Their second-best album is Oh No, released in 2006, with some of the best songs, "Let It Rain" and "Here It Goes Again".
Music has a way of bringing you back to the past, and with OK Go, it reminds me of summer and driving around with my friends. This band makes me feel nostalgic for a past I never had, and I love their wide range of experimental music with the rock genre.
So if you consider yourself a fan of older experimental rock music, check out OK Go on Spotify, or whatever music listening platform you have, and see for yourself how good the band is.

About the Contributor

My name is Reese Winbigler, and I am a senior at Wyoming High School. But more importantly, I love art. At the start of the school year, I became the NAHS president, which is the art club, and that is important to me because I have been a member since 10th grade. That was rare because the club did not accept undergraduates at the time. I am both grateful and proud of how far I’ve grown since then, making art in my AP classes as well. My dream job is to be an illustrator, and it is exciting to think about the future where that may be possible.
Outside of school, I work at Michael’s craft store, where I usually work on the registers or help people with their projects. Right now, I am training to be a part-time framer in the custom framing department. Besides work, I like to hang out with my friends and relax with my cat, Milo. He is a cuddlebug, and I love him.
Other things I enjoy are listening to music, typically dad rock, or watching my favorite shows over and over again. I just finished my third rewatch of Better Call Saul, and I will probably watch Criminal Minds next since I’m still on the fifth season.
