Although this audition process may seem scary, many current Honors Choir members can assure you that it is not.
- “I think it was like a good test of where you were at with music and it was also good for Mrs. Miller to know where you were at and what you’re capable of,” said Lauren Palma.
- “It was simple, it honestly helped you in the class because it involves the national anthem. It helps Mrs. Miller with the placement of people and who to work with on things,” said Junior Evelyn Vernon.
Honors Choir has been the best part of some of your fellow student’s high school years. It has given our students reasons to come to school and be present in class. These are some statements from the Honors Choir this year.
- “This is my first year in Honors but I already feel like I am a part of the Honors Choir family,” sophomore Lily McKenney said.
- “I liked going to all the trips and signing at events,” senior Lauren Palma said.
- “The opportunity to meet many types of people because there are many different types of people in choir,” said senior Klaus Eckert,
- “I’ve met a lot of different people on the field trips we take.”
- “I just like singing with people,” senior Juan Enamorado-Romero said.
- “My favorite is Mrs. Miller,” said Senior Cindy Gomez-Villegas, “She is just so warm … she is very parent-like.”
Since the honors choir is an elite group, they often go on trips to sing. Recently, they went to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport for a holiday concert as well as Aquinas College for a workshop day. They also sing at basketball games, The Grand Rapids Gold, The Grand Rapids Rise, and the Grand Rapids Christkindl Markt.
If you do end up auditioning, ensure you get your recordings in on time. Good luck everyone.
