The telling of a romantic story between two best friends takes a tragic turn of events that leads to never-ending pain.
The books If He Had Been With Me and If Only I Had Told Her are a series that was written by Laura Nowlin. This story is about two childhood friends who were inseparable until an unexpected kiss on New Year’s Eve. This changed the way that their friendship would be for the next 4 years. I like this book series because of the different perspectives of the storyline, the first book is Autumn’s perspective although you get a couple of chapters of her in the second book the main focus is Finny and Jack’s perspective.
The first book is longer due to the fact that it is explained in such detail as it goes through all 4 years of separation. On the other hand, the second book is separated into 3 sections of the three characters’ views on how this story played out.
This is told very well because you are able to understand why each character did what they did and how they felt. For example, when reading the first book I didn’t get to deeply understand the character Jack, but after reading the second book I understood why he said what he said to Autumn in the first book. It showed his true friendship with Finny.
The books If He Had Been With Me and If Only I Had Told Her are a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ in my opinion because the tragic romance reminds me of William Shakespeare’s story of Romeo and Juliet. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romance but also wants a good cry. Although this book is amazing there is heavy content that is not recommended for younger readers. This story will leave you speechless as you stare at the wall in complete shock!
