We asked four seniors from KCTC or Middle College about their past, present, and future in school.
JANET BARRERA CHEVEZ
What is your best memory or the best thing you’ve gotten out of high school?
Janet B-C: My friends and the friendships that I made throughout high school and the new friends I made.
How do you feel about graduating high school and why?
Janet B-C: Nervous but excited.
Is there anything you have improved or changed in high school?
Janet B-C: I have changed my time management to be able to get done all the stuff that I had to get done school work and more
What do you plan to pursue for a career and what has inspired you?
Janet B-C: I am planning on pursuing criminal justice or forensics for now.
Do you have any advice for the underclassmen?
Janet B-C: Keep your grades to a certain level but don’t stress too much. Stay out of the drama and just enjoy your high school years.
JUAN JIMENEZ
What is your best memory or the best thing you’ve gotten out of high school?
Juan J: The best memory I got was probably sophomore year, the bus rides to the soccer games, and the bus rides back home, with the boys. It was always fun and a good environment, it felt like a home here.
How do you feel about graduating high school and why?
Juan J: I feel very proud because I know this school is amazing and it’s been home since I was in kindergarten, so it’s always been a wonderful experience each year, and yeah I’m just really excited to graduate.
Is there anything you have improved or changed in high school?
Juan J: I would say my learning abilities, I know when I was a freshman and sophomore I didn’t really study but once I got into the Middle college program that really made me study and focus more in school.
What do you plan to pursue for a career and what has inspired you?
Juan J: After graduating from Wyoming, I plan on going to GRCC to finish my 13th year, and then after that, I want to get my bachelor’s in computing engineering.
Do you have any advice for the underclassmen?
Juan J: Make sure to do your homework and just stay on top of your stuff. You can fall behind really easily.
EMILY ZARCO
What is your best memory or the best thing you’ve gotten out of high school?
Emily Z: Probably my friends. I’ve had them since junior high.
How do you feel about graduating high school and why?
Emily Z: Lowkey a little bit nervous because I don’t know what the future holds for me. I’m just glad that this year is guiding me.
Is there anything you have improved or changed in high school?
Emily Z: Socially I am not as shy anymore. I’m not scared to go up to people and talk to them or speak in front of large groups of people anymore.
What do you plan to pursue for a career and what has inspired you?
Emily Z: I wanna be an ultrasound technician or a phlebotomist because that is what I am doing at KCTC right now and it’s what led me to that. I am very grateful that Wyoming has provided that program.
Do you have any advice for the underclassmen?
Emily Z: Don’t start drama Just enjoy the time you have here with your friends. Don’t get involved in problems, especially things that don’t involve you.
JACKIE MACIAS-ABAD
What is your best memory or the best thing you’ve gotten out of high school?
Jackie M-A: The best thing I’ve gotten out of high school is my friends throughout High school. I met a lot of people, and honestly, they are the reason I come to school every day.
How do you feel about graduating high school and why?
Jackie M-A: I feel a bit stressed and terrified about graduating because I don’t have a plan after High School, and I feel like I’m going to fail after High School.
Is there anything you have improved or changed in high school?
Jackie M-A: I improved my social skills, I was really shy at first but I kinda have to talk to people so that’s one thing I’ve improved on.
What do you plan to pursue for a career and what has inspired you?
Jackie M-A: I’m interested in the medical field so I’ve been thinking about radiology, and I don’t know I just feel like it’s not a competitive career, so yeah.
Do you have any advice for the underclassmen?
Jackie M-A: My advice is just to have good grades but not stress yourself, go out, go with your friends, and enjoy your high school days.
