Although we are in high school many of us already have a specific song they are saving for their wedding. Whether it’s “Marry You” by Bruno Mars or “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, we all have different opinions about each song.
The song “Pasilyo”by Sun Kissed Lola is a lovely wedding, more upbeat song. Some of the wedding songs are mellow and have a slower rhythm. For slow dancing and such, but this song does a good job at catering to both genres.
I want my dream wedding to have unique songs that haven’t really been heard before in other weddings. From the weddings I have been invited to, they have all been the same entrance and slow dancing songs during their wedding. Not saying I want to be better than other people. Since it will be my special day, why not mix my favorite songs in.
Pasilyo is a Filipino song sung by a Filipino group consisting of six members. Although it might not be everyone’s cup of tea; Listening to music in a different language could open you up to many things that you wouldn’t have thought of. A new love for a new culture, getting closer with other people with similar tastes, and appreciating people from all over the world with their music talents.
The reason why I want this song played and highlighted at my wedding is because in the english translation you can see just how cute the song really is. Although I don’t know Tagalog, the language itself made the song beautiful.
An example of a lyric would be (English translation) “I can’t ask for anything more, you and you, you and you..you and..you and..’ Incomparable I carry it every day. My favorite prayer.” The english translation does not do the Tagalog lyrics justice, the lyrics “You and you” in Tagalog has a deeper meaning, “you and only you” and “there is none but you”. This is specifically relevant because I want to celebrate the day with the person who will be my best friend forever. Until death do us apart. Having this song playing is almost like a prayer that I will grow old with them.
Another reason why I like the song “Pasilyo” is because of the instruments playing in the background. Maybe because I did band and orchestra for four years I enjoy the instruments sometimes more than the song.
In “Pasilyo” you have the drums and electric guitar the most prominent with the singers. I absolutely love the electric guitar because of how versatile it is, it can align with a cute soft song, or with an upbeat funk song. I always steer more towards the softer song.. Because the song has everything I want for my dream wedding, I plan to play the instrumental song and the song with the lyrics as well.
I overall rate the song a 10/10, very biased, but if you want to expand your music tastes and genres, this song is for you.
