Sitting at her post in the counseling office, Mrs. Jewel has seen it all.
While her job can be challenging, she is a pretty content person.“Some days it’s stressful, most days are good,” she said. “We get a good steady flow in here and my job here in the office is to prepare people for life outside of high school. Sometimes that gets stressful because I often have to be the bad guy.”
To unwind after a long day, Mrs. Jewel likes to stay active.“I like to read, I like to cook, and I play volleyball once a week with my oldest daughter in a like a pick up league,” she said, “so I just keep busy.”
And while she loves her job, Mrs. Jewel initially thought she might take a different career path. ”Actually when I first graduated high school, I went to college to be an accountant and started taking those classes,” she said. “But I knew that was not what I wanted to do. I switched to education and have been in the education field ever since. I love it, I love what I do.”
She also loves living in the West Michigan area. “I like Michigan,” she said. “I like the seasons here.”
