Home Economics was a class that taught students life skills llike cooking, sewing, first aid, and even how to handle loans.
This is a class we used to have when the building was named Rogers High School. Currently, students attend KCTC for classes in cooking and woodworking. In my opinion, they should never have gotten rid of it. Home Economics is a super useful class, helping with your everyday life.
Many students and staff at WHS expressed interest in bringing back. Some even had the class when they were young and still are seeing the benefits. “I took the class in junior high and I believe that it helped prepare me to do some of the daily tasks an adult has to do,” said Ms. Sitte. “I’m currently sewing my kid’s Halloween costume and I think home ec taught me the basics of sewing, which prepared me for it.”
