Numerous movies are boring to me, either too slow, the plot could be better, or the storyline could be more engaging. But with this one, time wasn’t even noticed, the plot was so good, and the storyline was fast-paced.
The best genre is romance, and this movie is ”20th Century Girl”
Na Bo-ra (Kim Yoo-Jung) is a teen girl who has promised her best friend Kim Yeon-du (Roh Yoon-Seo) to investigate everything about her crush, as long as she goes to the US for heart surgery.
Baek Hyun-Jin (Park Jung-woo) is the boy Kim Yeon-du has set eyes on and whose name is the only thing she knows about him so far, this is an important factor. things become complicated when Na Bo-Ra gets closer to Pong Woon-Ho (Byeon Woo-Seok), Baek Hyun-Jin’s best friend. Na Bo-Ra will have to choose between Love or Friendship.
Na Bo-ra finds out Hyun-jin and Woon-ho are auditioning for the broadcasting club, she finds the perfect excuse to learn more about Hyun-jin, but in the auditions, Na Bo-ra shows her outstanding skills in taekwondo, after seeing, Hyun-jin who was after her in the audition line, decides to withdrawal. This is one of the most important for the plot.
Na Bo-ra, Baek Hyun-Jin, and Pong Woon-Ho go to the beach for a school trip, there we are shown how close they are becoming since they have to work together for the broadcasting club, and from that moment many memories are created. They take a picture and Na Bo-ra decides to send it to Kim Yeon-du so she can have a picture of her crush. This photo comes back later on in the movie, but for my 3rd time watching it, I still don’t know why she would send it, she shouldn’t have.
Another part that was emotional for me was at the train station, where Na Bo-ra and Woon-ho express their bittersweet young love, During this part, I cried because of the emotions and the context of how the train station is so important yet so sad… be advised, every scene is important building up to the ending. Paying attention to detail is key.
You have to see it. It is like a roller coaster of emotions, so without giving away the ending or spoilers, I recommend it to those who love good romance movies.
Overall, I give this movie a 10/10. There are so many ways this movie could’ve ended but the director chose the most difficult one to overcome.
