Tacos El Cunado has kept their promise to deliver delicious and authentic food to the West Michigan area. The Mexican restaurant, has recently opened up its newest location to the people of Wyoming on 28th Street.
This is their 12th location in the West Michigan area. They recently opened up and took over Tacos El Caporal’s old location, offering a wide variety of Authentic Mexican Cuisine compared to fast-food restaurants such as Taco John’s.
I vehemently devoured the food I was served by a bilingual waitress and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite along with the beautifully ornate decorations inside their dining room.
I enjoyed the decorations and the touch-ups they’ve made to the place.
Beforehand, when Taco’s El Caporal had the location, it had uncomfortable booths, limited seating, less natural lighting, and a warm-tone color palette with some wall decorations that didn’t belong.
Now, El Cuñado offers a white and green/nature color palette with fresh flowers in a vase at every new faux marble table. They re-did the kitchen to fit more seating and the whole dining area looks amazing in comparison to the past. They also encouraged natural sun lighting and that alone, makes the experience much more pleasant.
I first ordered a small Horchata, a Mexican traditional rice milk drink. It did quench my thirst at first but since I ordered a small, it was soon gone. I loved the taste of the sweet and very cool drink. Not only that, the texture of the cool drink as it ran down my throat was relaxing and filled me just enough in preparation for my meal. There was nothing extra, or special about it but the simplicity of such a drink beats any complicated mixture or concoction. Afterward, I ordered their Tex-Mex nachos, a Tejano style of traditional nachos that included tortilla chips, a superfluous amount of carne asada, refried beans, melted shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and jalapeños. I tried my best to intricately pick chips that had the most amount of food on them to maximize my consumption rate and my hand’s cleanliness. The latter did not last long however as the beans dripped down my hand as I inserted the loaded chip into my mouth. I cannot forget the chip’s taste and crunch as I munched it down vigorously. Although the meat in the nachos was nothing extraordinary, the mixture of everything greatly enhanced the flavor.
I greatly enjoyed Taco’s El Cuñado and look forward to many future visits.
I would give it four and a half stars out of five for its authentic food, amazing environment, great presentation, and kind staffing.
