Over the years, I have seen many movies neither here nor there but there’s one movie that stands out to me in a way.
My all-time favorite movies to watch are horror movies.
I love being scared and having a laugh. This movie is called “The Visit ”.
This movie has everything I like in a movie.
“The Visit ” is about these two kids going to see their grandparents for the first time because their mom ran away from home and hadn’t come back. The Grandparents requested to see them so the mother sent both her children to see them. The children’s names are Tyler (Ed Oxenbould) and Becca (Olivia Dejonge). The mother named Loretta Jamison (Kathryn Hahn) stayed behind because she wasn’t ready to see her parents after all these years.
During the movie, Becca is video-taping everything so that she has future reference to her childhood.
At the beginning, everything seems fine. They love their grandparents and are having a good time. But they start to notice at night that the grandma acts very weird at night so the grandpa tells them it’s just because she’s getting old and they shouldn’t leave their room after 9:30.
It gets even stranger, one strange thing that happens is that the kids hear some strange noises coming outside of their room. It was so loud that they woke up and opened the door. What they discovered was their grandma naked head to toe scratching the walls.
When I saw this scene I was very taken aback, I didn’t expect that at all.
At first, I was confused because I didn’t know if she was possessed or just sleepwalking. That morning the kids told their grandpa about what they had seen.
But, their grandpa tries to move on with the conversation, kind of dodging their question and just says it’s because she’s old.
I didn’t get what happened in this scene because that was the first night they had spent at their grandparents so I wasn’t sure what was going on.
One of my favorite characters is Tyler, He is the youngest out of the two. What I like about him is that he brings out the humor in this movie. This movie is supposed to be a horror, mysterious movie but his character always has a way of making you laugh. He is really into rapping so my favorite part of the movie is at the end where he raps about the whole experience he had on his trip to his “grandparents”.
Overall, I give this movie a good 9/10. It’s definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen.
