Vultures is Kanye West’s 13th studio album and an outright catastrophe even before its constantly delayed release. It’s pushbacks have caused fans to become impatient, and Kanye being Kanye isn’t helping him at all. These decisions and actions have led fans to wonder one thing: what is Ye up to?
Vultures has been a hot topic in the community about Kanye’s new album, but it’s been popularized further with its release delays. First, it was December 15th, but since he didn’t clear some samples, it was pushed to the 31st, which then got pushed to the 12th, until it got pushed all the way back to February 9th. That’s almost two whole months after the original date. Given that Kanye is producer and a rapper, it’s confusing as to why he even gave a release date before getting approval. It should’ve been one of the first things he did, but this oversight is costing fans time and patience. We’ve been teased with one of the songs off the album, also titled Vultures, which was not nearly good enough to justify these wait times. It’s not like the album isn’t finished either because he already performed the album in a rave in Miami, and even those songs have been remastered on YouTube (BBTBNWJDFOTSYK). It’s been lapses in judgment that are holding us back from some of Kanye’s best work, and it’s hurting the hype for an album. This album was supposed to be the fans’ early Christmas gift, but it looks like he got stuck on checking his list twice before delivering the gifts. A shame.
As for what Kanye’s been up to recently, he’s certainly been up to something, but only God knows what it really is. On his Instagram, you can be treated to pictures him and his wife Bianca Censori. On his story, he recently replaced his teeth with titanium grills to look like a James Bond character. Not a sentence I was expecting to write, but also not something anyone was expecting to see. Kanye definitely beat the clone allegations. This is something different. It’s also been rumored he’ll drop a 40-minute apology video before Vultures’ official drop, but until I see the album in my library, I’d hold my breath on hearing it. It’s allegedly about his antisemitic remarks, which is a nice addition to his formal Hebrew apology and his appreciation of 21 Jump Street’s star, Jonah Hill. He also patched up his relationship with Kid Cudi, with Cudi being on one of the songs in Vultures. It’s a nice breath of fresh air after Kanye’s beef with Pete Davidson and by proxy Kid Cudi who’s friends with Davidson. In fact, this past year has seen Kanye repairing broken bridges and fixing what he can it seems. With his credibility in the public eye growing and his chances of dropping the album decreasing, Vultures is clearly a priority for Kanye, and when everything officially releases, these past several years of buildup will come to fruition.
Aside from all the allegations and tabloids he’s been in, Kanye’s been making both amends and bangers alike. It’s been a rocky year for Kanye, and hopefully this is the comeback he needs. If 2010 is to speak for Kanye’s career, it’s to say that a stellar resurgence can boost him from the depths of public scrutiny, in the exact same manner that MBDTF did following his 2009 MTV award controversy. Who knows, maybe this really is Kanye’s comeback. All I have to say is given the leaks, the king is coming back. In Kanye we trust.
