During this Halloween season horror movies are a hit. There have been many good scary movies over the years but my top 5 favorites have to be Sinister, Exorcist, Conjuring, Insidious and finally, The Nun. All of them are attention grabbing and a perfect example of horror.
It’s hard for me to rank these movies 1 to 5 because they are all so good, but I’ll start with the movie Sinister. Ellison Oswald is the main character of the movie, he has two children and a wife. He hasn’t been a good seller and wanted a big hit. He came across this video tape that showed the deaths of a previous family that lived in the house before him. Over time livinging in the house he discovers something supernatural. This movie was one of my favorites when I was younger. It intrigued me every time. I was always on edge whenever I watched it. The director and producers did a great job at setting an uncomfortable, intense scene and theme. Sinister is definitely the movie you should watch if you want to be spooked.
The Exorcists is known as the big hit horror movie. This creepy movie is based on true events from an exorcism. Linda Blair is the character who gets possessed by the devil. Her mother worries and tries to find a priest who is willing to help. Little does the priest know, he’s in for a challenge. This is a very action packed movie with elements that make your mind feel like it can’t wrap around what is happening. I was very interested in it the first time that I watched it. The Exorcist is your ideal horror movie.
We all know the Anebelle doll and the movie based on it, but one of my favorite movies ties in with Anabelle and it’s called The Conjuring. The Conjuring is a 3 movie series and Annabelle ties into the beginning of the first movie. This movie was a really big hit when the first one came out and I see why. This movie was one of my favorites because it was also based on true events. That’s what captured me into loving the movie more. The acting was top tier in this movie and the scenes that they captured were too. It was so good, you could feel the emotion.
Insidious is one of those movies that remind you of the song that people think is cursed, TipToe Through the Tulips, a song by Tiny Tim. This song was played during the movie to give an eerie feeling to the movie and it did. This movie is about a family living in a new home that is haunted. Just like every movie having to do with possession, it takes a few minutes into the movie to get into the scary stuff. For some people that can be annoying and feel like a waste of time, and for some people they don’t mind. I personally think it gets more interesting when you give the movie about an half an hour to play.
Just when you couldn’t think good can turn evil, the Nun movie came out. This movie had everyone on their feet ready to watch it. Many people have a controversial opinion on this movie. Some people think it was a great scary movie that is actually scary and others think it could’ve been more scary or interesting. The Nun is based on a young nun who takes her life and a priest who has had a haunted past all happening in Romania. In my opinion, the story line was really good and kept me interested in the movie. There were many points in the movie that I felt were on the scary side. Overall, I think this movie was one of many good examples of a horror movie.
All of those five horror movies are what I think exemplifies horror and others may disagree. Anyone with friends that are scared of horror movies should spook their friends with a surprise horror movie this Halloween season.
