Baking has taken a huge part in my life. That is all I want my future to be at the moment. Opening a bakery for people to come in and be served with desserts that are filled with joy.
I started baking back in 2017 and took a big interest in it. It only started with using a box mix from my babysitter at the time. Making cupcakes all the time with store bought products. From my memory, a box of Betty Crocker Cake Mix, a popular well-known brand, was the mix that was used in all of our desserts. I started off finding the same box brand for muffins filled with chocolate chips and began baking on my own. Baking made me feel relieved and filled with joy. Today, I don’t use cake mix anymore considering I make things homemade but I do know relatives that still buy it for their own baking.
Baking isn’t exactly a hard skill to learn. There is no shame in using a cake mix, you are still considered a baker because you put patience into it. Everyone is capable of baking the same way everyone is capable of cooking everyday recipes. There are recipes that are more of a struggle but everyone starts a different pace with a different baking category.
Baking is also a reliable hobby to be able to help with stress. Doctors claim it is a helpful way to manage your stress. Baking is a meditative hobby to be able to help you keep your focus away from the issue and more into whisking eggs. Taking stress out onto the dough can also be helpful. Making bread normally needs hands on which is good to keep your hands occupied.-
Baking can have some cons to be part of it. Even though It is said baking is therapeutic, it does come with some stress. You need to measure correctly as well as have lots of patience for it. If you were to mess up, there is a high chance the product won’t come out right. Having the product come out wrong can mean you did something wrong in the process but that’s where learning comes around. Things won’t become perfect the first time, as long as you understand what you did wrong and how you can do better with it.
What to bake something small? Let’s start with a small batch of Crepes! To start with, let’s put together One half cup of milk, One Half cup of water, 1 egg, and a drop of vanilla extract. Mix together and put it aside. Now let’s mix together the dry ingredients. 14 Tablespoons of All-Purpose Flour and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Mix that together and bring the dry ingredients (flour and sugar) to the wet ingredients. Add a small portion of the dry ingredients into the wet and mix. Keep doing this until you have no more flour left. The batter should be a bit watery like pancake batter.
On the stove, heat up a pan that you will be using of your choice. Put it on low heat and butter up the pan. After heated, get a small amount of batter and spread it around the pan. This should be a very THIN “pancake” so don’t worry about how much you need to add. It should become a bit golden brown or at least to your liking. Continue this process.
Once finished, get yourself one crepe and you can add whatever fillings you desire. Don’t forget to roll it up!
I add strawberries and homemade whipped cream 🙂
