Wyoming beats both Zeeland Schools but fall to Union

Do the Wolves have what it takes to finish the season strong? Both Zeeland and Union can answer that question.

Last week, our boys basketball team hosted both Zeeland West and East for a couple “staycation” games. Quadir Hatchett scored 17 points and had 2 steals in a key game against the Dux. The team knew they were a tough opponent and that they didn’t give up very easily. At halftime, it was really a toss up game, but Quadir and the Wolves pulled away with the win in the 4th quarter. Ramer Draper knocked down 5 three pointers and a couple more buckets later.

Continuing the home games, Zeeland East came to town. Again, Quadir Hatchett performed very well, scoring 15 points and recording 4 steals. Ramere Draper was another excellent player with a lot of rebounds, which was great while going up against a tall team. I’m confused why Zeeland East didn’t keep giving the ball to their biggest player, who was like a foot taller than all of the other players on the court. They easily could’ve won, but we figured out a way to keep them contained.

This past Tuesday we visited the Union Red Hawks in what looked and was a very interesting game. Although the Wolves lost, we tried our best to contain their taller guys, but they kept dominating and blocking a lot of our shots by the basket. The Wolves could have done better on offense by trying to attack the basket more often.

Going into this weekend, we matchup against the Mona Shores Sailors. They are a football school, not a basketball school. So we should have this game in the bag. If we beat the Sailors, we move up to 3rd in the OK conference. Hopefully we get the win tonight so we can bounce back from the loss.
