Saints pounded the Packers in Week One of the NFL season

Going into this game we all thought we knew what the result was. We were about to watch the Saints get whooped. When the Saints and Packers play, it’s guaranteed to be a good game. Both of the teams are constantly at the top of the NFC. Last season, the Packers managed to make it to the NFC Championship but merely lost to the Super Bowl champs by 5. The Packers are just a strong team with a promising future.

Aaron Rodgers was the NFL’s MVP last year with an explosive season. Aaron Rodgers had some real talent surrounding him. Look at Aaron Jones and Davante Adams, they’re both top 10 in their positions. They both had amazing seasons. Davante Adams ranked as the best WR. Adams rose all the way to No. 6 in the NFL Network’s “Top 100 Players of 2021,” climbing 51 spots from 2020 when he was No. 57.

Not only do the Packers have an amazing offense, they also have an explosive defense that’s led by the best Cornerback in the NFL, Jaire Alexander. The 2020 pro bowler ranked No. 41 on the NFL’s top 100 players list with this being his first time on the list.

Now let’s talk about the Saints. It’s pretty obvious that the Saints were going to be doomed after Drew Brees announced his retirement during the offseason after the 2020 season. This Saints team was either going to be led by Jameis Winston, who led the NFL in interceptions in 2019, or Taysom Hill who could play any spot on the team. They had a decision to make and a question to answer, who was going to start at the QB position this season? They ended up choosing Jameis Winston, which I think was the better option. He has experience leading an NFL team and Taysom Hill only has experience being a backup.

It was showtime for Jameis Winston. He showed everyone that he could still play football, he threw for 14/20 and 5 touchdowns. He led the team to the W and beat the Packers 38-3. I was a person that thought that the Saints were going to have an awful day trying to spot the Packers but Jameis and his crew proved me wrong. That’s crazy considering his best receiver, Michael Thomas, is injured and won’t be playing until Week 6.

Not only did the offense blow everyone’s socks off, but the defense did an amazing job at shutting down this Super Bowl caliber team. Aaron Rodgers went 15/28 and only had 133 passing yards. The Packers decided to take him out of the game with over 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Aaron Rodger was only sacked 2 times and he only threw 2 interceptions but props to the Saint’s defense for shutting this Packers offense down. During this game, the Saint’s starting Cornerback, Marshon Lattimore, unfortunately got injured and we’re not sure how long he’ll be gone but he’s definitely out for week 2.

I guess we’ll see how the rest of the season goes for both of these teams but I predict the Saints will go 10-7 and have an average season with Jameis Winston leading this Saints team. I predict that the Packers will go 13-4 and make the playoffs. They’re still the same scary team that destroyed teams last year, they just had an awful week 1.
