Tyler Perry's Studios

Nakyla McCoy, Contributing Writer

The American actor, producer, writer, comedian, and director Tyler Perry has officially finished his film production studio in Atlanta, Georgia. It was founded in 2006 but in 2019 he moved into 330 acres of the former Fort McPherson complex in southwest Atlanta.

Tyler Perry Studios is the largest film production studio in the United States, and Tyler Perry is the first African American to fully and independently own a major film production studio. The film studio has a 50,000 square feet of the site dedicated to standing permanent sets, also includes a replica of a luxury hotel lobby with top quality marble floors, a replica of the White House, a 16,000   square foot (ca. 15 a) mansion, a mock cheap hotel, a trailer park set, a real 1950s diner that was relocated from a town 100 miles (ca. 161 km) away.

Tyler Perry Studios was originally founded in 2006, his very first movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman produced on a budget of $5.5 million later he pocketed an astounding $50.6million that’s not bad for a first movie. Emmitt Perry Jr. was born September 13, 1969, in New Orleans, Louisiana with 3 siblings, him being the middle child with 2 older sisters and a younger brother. He has so many great accomplishments, I know his mother is proud. Congrats to Tyler Perry and his black excellence.
