Latinas Take Over the Halftime Show

This year for the Super Bowl, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira took over the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Garden for the Halftime show. Shakira took the stage first performing some of her top hits like “Hips don’t lie” and “Waka Waka.” Bad Bunny also joined her to sing “I Like It” and “Chantaje”.
JLo then performed “Jenny from the Block,” and “Waiting for Tonight.” The audience enjoyed the energetic music and rocking dance moves. J Balvin joined her to sing “Mi Gente”.
The two Latina’s created a very powerful performance. To make it even better, they had Jennifer Lopez’s daughter and children’s choir to sing “Let’s Get Loud”. Shakira joined them playing the drums and Jennifer entered the stage again, holding a half Puerto Rican and half American flag. This showed their Latina proud.
One of the best parts of the performance was the costumes. Although some people deemed the outfits to be “inappropriate” for a half time show, you can’t deny that the two looked incredible in their outfits. Shakira wore a sparkly red two-piece while JLo wore a silver, flowy one piece. At the end of the show when the two came together, their outfits looked amazing together and it was iconic. All of the backup dancers looked great too.
A controversial part of the show was the dancing. A lot of viewers believed JLo pole dancing was very inappropriate. She did a pole dance which Americans automatically connect to strippers. Personally, we believed she didn’t do anything provocative.
This was one of the best halftime shows yet even though it was controversial.
