Mr.Doyle stood in front of 130 students lecturing about how to make our school better. But, this time we were not in school we were at The Little Pine Island Campground.
“We are here to make our school better,” Doyle said.
I had the most wonderful time at the overnight Alpha Wolf 11 retreat.
Last year was the first time this trip started. I didn’t attend the retreat then but this year I’m glad I did.
There were around 130 of us there at this retreat and it went more smoothly than I thought it would.
Mr. Doyle, Mr.Kupier, and the many other staff members who all contributed their time with us had made everything great.
At the retreat I feel like we all got to meet new people and just communicate with each other more than we usually do outside of school. They had everything set for us such as activities and food.
Being able to be part of an experience that’s new is amazing. It gives us students an opportunity to come together and interact with one another to make a difference.
Being one of the students chosen was also sort of a rewarding experience.
When you are chosen out of the many students that applied to create a better environment for your school it shows a lot.
When we arrived the fun started from there. Everyone was rushing into their cabins to choose where we would be sleeping overnight. Once everything was settled in we headed back to the main room where most of our fun happened.
We also talked about leadership. We were put into groups and went around the room to answer each question on a piece of paper. Once that was finished each group was assigned to answer a question in front of everyone. It was fun being able to talk about your answers and others as well.
There were activities and good lectures of the whole Alpha Wolf Program. We were also given a lot of free time to be with our peers. There was a playground, volleyball net, and much more things to indulge in.
One of my favorite things was the food. The lunch consisted of sandwiches/wraps with snacks. Then for dinner we had pizza and breadsticks that were delicious.
At night we had an interesting bonfire. Many people got up to talk about what they were grateful for, it was a heartwarming experience.
Not only did we sit around the campfire, we had delicious smores as well.
Overall, this retreat was a great opportunity for everyone who attended. I encourage anyone who would like to find out more about the program and how to make our school to attend.
