A Hot Summer’s Day Treat

Do you love ice cream? I think you would be crazy if you didn’t. It’s a great treat on a hot summer day and can be in many different forms. You can eat fried ice cream, ice cream dipped in chocolate that turns into a shell, sundae’s, Kulfi (Indian Ice cream), Ice cream cakes, and even coffee ice cream! It’s a crazy world we live in with all of the things we can do.

I was visiting Clio, Michigan for the weekend and it became hot outside. I wanted a frozen treat and they don’t exactly have many ice cream shops in the area except one. They had a Dairy Queen. I have never had Dairy Queen until that day and I’m quite glad I did.

The founder of Dairy Queen was John Fremont McCullough And it was founded on June 22, 1940, Joliet, IL. Its focus is soft serve ice cream and the restaurant. Their main goal is that if the ice cream falls out of the cup, you get it for free which is bizarre but fascinating. And no, you can’t wait for it to melt before tipping it upside and go back for a free one.

When I had purchased the ice cream in a medium cup, it was true. My ice cream didn’t even budge! It was a strawberry cheesecake blizzard in a medium blue cup with a red spoon with it and Reese’s Peanut Butter Blizzard. The consistency was thick and smooth. Though I did not enjoy the Reese’s flavor much because it didn’t taste real, I did enjoy the cheesecake one. The cheesecake flavor tasted more realistic in flavor.

Dairy Queen doesn’t just offer blizzards, but it also offers cakes both mini, regular, and a sheet cake. The round cakes can be a blizzard flavor or it looks as though they can decorate it for a special occasion. They also offer pizza in the form of dessert. I find it unique that they offer various desserts for many sweet tooth’s that live around Dairy Queen.

Overall, My experience was pleasant. The workers were kind too. I would highly recommend ordering ice cream there for sure. If you don’t like artificial/ waxy tasting chocolate, I would recommend avoiding the Reese’s blizzard. I recommend the Royal New York Cheesecake. It has good flavor and tastes more realistic. It is definitely a place to get rid of your sweet tooth.
