Song: Carry On My Wayward Son
Artist: Kansas
Album: Leftoverture
Genre: Rock
Year: 1976

The only reason I know this song exists is because of Supernatural. They use this song whenever a new season comes out, and they are playing scenes from past seasons to show what the characters have gone through thus far in the show.
To me, this song is about a soldier trying to rationalize what he’s doing and his experiences in the war. The song claims, “There’ll be peace when you are done,” which is a direct reference to the main reason nations go to war in the first place. It also says, “masquerading as a man with a reason,” to show that he’s trying to cling to the belief that his side is correct, and that there is a reason for the violence. However, he is struggling with, or even doubting, his justification.
