Poem: Running

Rayne Vieau-Parfait, Contributing Writer

Running

It hurts to breathe,

But I keep running,

I create a pace,

A thumping beat,

It feels good to run,

Although I don’t know,

What I’m running from,

Maybe my fears,

Of falling,

Of men,

Of dying,

Maybe it’s the unknown,

The future,

The past,

The present,

Or maybe from myself,

My anxiety,

My sadness,

My guilt,

Whatever the reason,

I keep running,

It hurts to breathe,

But I keep my pace,

Making a rhythmic beat,

With my tired feet.
